The gift tag let’s the recipient know it’s for them. And it can offer a first impression. A tag can simply say “To/From”, but it can be one less thing you have to buy if you think creatively.

Try turning this year’s Christmas cards into next year’s gift tags. You’ll have more than enough, as cards often produce multiple gift tags. Here’s how:

1. Cut out any obvious images that can be used without much more work (a star, a small tree, baby Jesus)
2. If there is any writing on the back of an image, just back the tag with plain colored paper.
3. Punch a hole and add a ribbon (leftover ribbon for this year is perfect!)

4. Tag the gift!

If you want to take your old cards a few steps further…

5. Cut out triangles from the rest of your cards.
6. Assemble 3 triangles, one layered on top of the next.
7. Repeat 3/4 above.
